The so-called super moon rising from behind a ridge in the San Gabriel Mountains above Altadena and Pasadena. This photo was taken a couple of switchbacks up the Sam Merrill Trail that leaves from the top of Lake Avenue and ascends Echo Mountain.
The super moon over the San Gabriel Mountain foothills. I shot this on the Sam Merrill Trail that ascends Echo Mountain above Altadena. I used a long exposure to capture the homes at the base of the mountains. As a result, I lost detail on the moon -- but I like all the other detail in the photo, in particular the high-tension wires on the ridge at left and the lights of the San Gabriel Valley in the distance.
Looking east toward the super moon on the Sam Merrill trail that climbs Echo Mountain. The house in the bottom right is part of a subdivision that hugs the San Gabriel Mountain foothills in Altadena. The photo as a little too much noise but I liked the composition with the homes at bottom right and electric towers on left and San Gabriel Valley lights in the distance.
